SWIMMING

I want to take you swimming,
Strip down to our bare minimum,
To show you I’m not scared,
Of sharing this vulnerability with you,
I want to take you swimming,
Step into the cold water,
To show you how fast hearts beat,
When we seek this heat,

I want to take you swimming,
Lay myself flat on the surface,
To show you how well we float,
Even when we’re carrying the weight of the world
I want to take you swimming,
Because you remind me of the water,
And how my body learns to adapt,
The longer I’m exposed to you,

I want to take you swimming,
See how long you can hold your breath,
To remind you of the pain the chest feels,
When you stop it from getting what it loves,
I want to take you swimming,
To even the playing field between us,
To show you everything I feel,
Without you trying
