SOUNDS
I want to know how you sound,
Listen to your body above the creaking,
Harmonise with soft melodies in the back,
Dancing to the swinging rhythm leading,
Listen to how softly you breathe in,
Dreaming while we sleep in,
In this inception I’m living,
Hoping never to wake twice,
Listen to how your mouth speaks,
Like tongue’s trying to catch up,
To the knowledge your mind spits,
From its vast depths,
Listen to how your being creaks,
Crumbles and pops in the morning,
Showing the human to your divine,
Showing the imperfect in your grace,
Listen to how this very silence,
Can never have its way with you, you
Always hold on the tip of your tongue,
A tune the rest of you moves to,
Listen to how softly you pray,
With your knees on the ground,
Stirring in me a different kind of faith,
With the way you touch the heavens,
Listen to how your heart proclaims,
Words your mouth hasn’t found yet,
But ones your soul yells at me,
When I hold you in silence
Before my ears do that thing,
Where they don’t hear as clear, let me
Listen to the sound of God’s gift,
Unwrap itself to me everyday like Christmas,
