SELFISH

Is it selfish,
For the sun to hide its rising rays,
Its warmth and colour tucked behind clouds,
When so few actually care to see it,

Is it selfish,
For the cock to whisper its good morning,
It’s quite alright if the farmer sleeps in,
Who needs the alarm clock anyway?

Is it selfish,
For the moon to drag the oceans with it,
Fold the waters on themselves,
And promise tide in the morning,

Is it selfish,
For the butterfly to stick to the ground,
Offering no use to the idea of it’s wings,
Robbing us of its so called beauty,

Is it selfish,
For man to hold emotion so gently,
Whisper it in the silent crevices of life,
Fold it into itself,

Is it selfish,
To bottle it up and sell it to madness,
Market its beauty and mask its unholiness,
Then call it humanity

Is it only selfish?
