PURPOSE

My soul is in conflict,
The push and pull of its unravelling,
I am trying to figure it out, so tell me,
Am I to find you… Or you, me?

I’ve been unpacking the insides of my soul,
This box I have emptied of the things I threw in,
The labelled tins and cans I identify with,
Because I am looking for you,

I’ve been arranging these contents in a line,
Giving them the space and time to look at me too,
Putting a mirror to them hoping one would reflect,
Because I’m hoping you’d find me,

I’ve been taking the time too,
To be in contact with nature,
Walking amongst trees, swimming in water,
Because maybe you are outside me,

I’ve been retreating,
Taking time to find contrast,
Because maybe in work and play,
I’d find you within me,
