Maybe you are not special,
There is no line drawn here,
No delineation of you from others,
Nothing about you stands out,

Maybe you are not special,
There is no space on the wall,
For the pictures of you with medals,
Or room on the shelves for your trophies,

Maybe you are not special,
There is no parade in your celebration,
No loud trumpets or thundering clapping,
Just a passing whiff of confetti from last time,

Maybe you are not special,
Because you fail to acknowledge it,
Blink away the bright lights and spotlights,
When they finally point at you,

Maybe you are not special,
You are not worthy of the praises,
How could you be?
If ever your sigh was never of relief,

Maybe you are not special,
Just a cog in a machine with no purpose,
Just a rolling stone on a downward spiral,
On to the next thing, then the next, the next….
