MASKED

For the days raindrops,
Race one another,
Down window panes,
I’ll be here,

On the nights,
Your fairy lights twinkle,
Like a soft fight against the dark,
I’ll come find you,

I’ll walk in between speeding buses,
Dance in the face of headlights,
Slip and slide on the tarmac,
If I have to get to you,

When the sun hides from you,
Keeps its light close to its chest,
And the cold holds you,
I will warm you,

I’ll be here for you,
I will come find you,
If I have to get to,
I will warm you,

I will fight your nightmares,
Carry sweet dreams in my pocket,
When I let you borrow my jacket,
So you can hold them like a pocket square,

But what happens,
When my nights are dark,
When raindrops streak my windows,
When the sun hides from me,

Could I turn to you,
On days when this smile,
Is a fake excuse for the reason,
My weaknesses remain masked.
