They lathered me up with compliments,
Decorated my eyes with sweet words,
And blinded me from their jealousy,
Before they stabbed me,
They drove the blade in slow,
But reassured me the pain,
Was all in my imagination,
Until it was too late,
They had shaped the question so sharp,
It pierced through me like a promise,
And I felt self-doubt introduced to me,
Like poison on the tip of a knife,
Slowly spreading like warmth,
From a hot cup on a cold morning,
Tightly held like grandma's arms,
In a hug that makes you forget self,
"How do you make it look so easy?"
