DEVOTED

I can deny it all I want,
But if I was to kill my heart,
Resurrect it in another life,
It’d probably try to find you

I won’t fight my peace for you,
But I’d fence my pride,
Play pretend with swords,
A dress rehearsal for death,

I could try to argue my case,
Like a lawyer of a guilty defendant,
But the court could not bear witness,
To my weak imitations,

If loving you was a crime,
Pass me the longest sentence,
I’d serve it with a side of no parole,
So be the verdict,

Bury me,
Engrave my name on the epitaph,
Right next to yours and label it,
Devoted, even in the next life
